Stormwater Training for Local Officials
Stormwater BMP Technology Demonstration Workshop
Description: Come learn about stormwater management at the UNH Stormwater Center - a unique field research facility which serves as a site for testing stormwater treatment processes and for technology demonstrations. This workshop will examine the performance, cost, suitability, operations, and maintenance issues associated with different stormwater management unit processes. Given that stormwater run-off is a primary source of contaminants to waterbodies in our state, this training will provide valuable information that can help with the development of solutions. The workshop will offer information which can be applied to the planning, design, and implementation of stormwater management strategies in communities. The workshop will include a field facility tour followed by a working lunch. Materials and lunch will be provided. Before registering for this workshop, please contact the Mass Bays Regional Coordinator in your area to determine space availability.

A Decentralized Approach to Enhanced Wastewater Tr
Wastewater Workshop Series #2
Description: Cluster systems are growing in their appeal as one possible alternative for managing wastewater. Viewed as an “in- between” approach when compared to utilizing individual onsite septic systems or centralized sewering, they are reputed to be cost effective and to offer certain benefits such as preservation of open space and conservation of water resources.

Energy Co-ops Webinar
Energy Co-ops: Structure and Benefits (Energy in the 21st Century Webinar Series)
Description: This webinar will explore how communities can benefit from their own energy resources by working together through energy cooperatives. Presentations will look at the Cape and Vineyard Electric Cooperative and other examples in the Northeast. This webinar will examine energy cooperatives, how they work, and how communities and residents can use these entities to save money. Three examples of energy-cooperatives will be presented: the Cape and Vineyard Electric Cooperative, Vineyard Power which is associated with the Vineyard Energy Project, and the Fox Island Institute Wind Project in Maine. Questions such as how are energy co-ops structured and sustained, are they economically viable initiatives, and what risks if any do they pose to members will be addressed. This topic is timely as more communities and regions consider ways to tap into renewable energy resources and lower energy costs.

Ramping up Energy Efficiency Webinar
Ramping up Energy Efficiency: Moving From Talk to Action (Energy in the 21st Century Webinar Series)
Description: As towns seek ways to save money on energy expenditure, experts agree that the most appropriate place to start making changes is with improving energy efficiency and conservation. Yet, while this is known and accepted, towns often struggle with making meaningful progress in these areas even though the steps they need to take to realize energy savings are often within reach. This webinar will present practical steps on how to overcome some of the typical hang-ups with energy efficiency and achieve desired operational and behavior changes.

Putting Wind to Work in a Changing Climate
7th Annual Land-based Wind Workshop
Description: In this period of changing economic and environmental conditions, greater attention is being placed on the role renewable energy technologies can play in tackling climate change and contributing to sustainable economic growth. Investments in wind power stand to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, dependence on fossil fuels and energy costs, as well as create more jobs in the green industry. This workshop will deliver information on new developments at the federal, state, regional and local levels related to wind power use. High interest topics such as permitting, financing, accessing grant resources, net metering regulations, and the Green Communities Act will be addressed, among others. Case studies of successful community land-based wind projects will highlight lessons learned, financing options used, and how potential barriers were overcome. This workshop will be relevant to all communities exploring wind power.
