History Hike: In the Footprints of a President


Meet at Quashnet River Trail- Martin Road, Falmouth, off Route 28    All ages, dogs on leash welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.                                                                                                                                                                Enjoy an easy 2.5 mile hike and discover the long history of human activities along the Quashnet River, a favorite fishing spot for President Grover Cleveland and other dignitaries.  Many locals, including  Wampanoag families, mill operators and  cranberry farmers, have all made their livings from the resources along the waterway and the native brook trout still attract fly fishers from near and far. Learn how restoration efforts have helped to bring back local wildlife.  Wear boots and dress for winter weather. Bring water and a snack. Extreme weather or dangerous conditions cancels.
