Dune crest positions vary little between surveys and in most cases are marked with secondary benchmarks close to the beach for measurement convenience. All dune crest positions are measured at least once per year. In the table above, values in bold are actual measurements, while values in italics are assumed from prior dates.

BM-12 to BM-14, are next to the Mashpee Town Beach Parking Lot for South Cape Beach. These sites lack natural dune crests and vegetation. The dune crest measurements are those of artificial dunes rebuilt from time to time by the Town of Mashpee.

* No measurements were made in February 2003 and 2004 due to heavy beach ice conditions throughout the month.
